The Reason For Flood Cuts
When your commercial facility suffers a water loss, you may see that when we are doing repairs we will cut out a section on the lower part of your wall. These cuts are called flood cuts.
Flood cuts are performed a few inches above the flood line and are done for a couple of reasons.
The first is so that we can remove and replace the damaged drywall and insulation. If you have insulation, it cannot be dried and maintain it's R-value, so it must be replaced it is damaged by water.
The second reason is that it allows us to be able to use drying equipment to dry the walls out more quickly to prevent secondary issues such as mold.
